SIR Ron Brierley's Guinness Peat Group has increased its stake in the nation's only pure listed sugar company, Maryborough Sugar Factory. GPG boosted its holding to 23.41% from 19.73%. Maryborough has taken a leading role in the consolidation of Australia's $1.75 billion sugar cane industry. -- ELI GREENBLAT
